MNKA

Methodist Nursery & Kindergarten Association

A History of the Methodist Nursery and Kindergarten Association

MNKA was founded in 1965 by a group of Methodist preschool directors.  They recognized a need to have directors meet and share information.  They also wanted to share in-service opportunities for their teaching staff.  Out of that dream has come a group of schools, directors, and teachers who come from all church denominations as well as non-church affiliated centers for the purpose of networking and professional development of early childhood educators and administrators.

Benefits of MNKA

Each year MNKA offers its members four training workshops (each are offered for a small fee), five Directors’ Roundtable meetings (no fee) and a summer workshop for directors (fee).  MNKA members receive a discount on the participation fee for workshops that have a charge. In addition to being eligible for the workshops, member schools each receive a membership directory in the fall, which aids in networking with other professionals in similar programs.  MNKA has established a scholarship fund to assist its members in continuing education and also has a lending library of training videos/DVDs. Directors of schools may also apply for scholarships for deserving children in their programs.
